My life certainly didn’t pan out the way I had expected. I fought for my life and nearly died from cancer at the age of 23. From that point forward, everything changed. However, change is like a glacier and it moves at its own plodding pace.
My experience with cancer taught me a valuable lesson – don’t allow life to just “happen” around you. Make changes, take risks and be true to your own heart.
After 11 years, I’m finally acting upon those lessons learned. I left a comfy career in my hometown to travel the world as an enterprise consultant. My wife and I lived in Vietnam for a month while we adopted our son. And I’m now listening to that ever-present voice telling me I’m an artist. Words and stories are my craft, and I hope you find some joy and surprises in my fiction. I’ll leave you with perhaps my all-time favorite quote that personifies how I feel when I write:
“A bird doesn’t sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song.” -Maya Angelou, Poet

love the blurb on Eden I need to reread Eden when I come up in 2 weeks. Relax and rest up while camping.
Finished Eden and Babylon, both! WOW!!!! Simply sitting on pins and needles waiting for Alexandria…ANTICIPATION!
[…] About […]
Absolutely loved Eden and Babylon, can’t wait for the third, hopefully soon!!!
I have very much enjoyed your Eden series and found Babylon particularly moving and heartfelt… One thing does intrigue me slightly, though, and that is that you don’t appear to like using the past perfect tense very much! Perhaps I missed a rare usage in Eden, but I think you managed to complete the book without it rearing its ugly (?) head and angelic choirs of seraphim chorused when I came across one example in Babylon.
Anyway, your Eden series has a special quality for me (influenced by your past perhaps?) and the comment you make here about being a storyteller echoes the thought I had last night when I finally devoured Babylon from start to finish during a marathon all-nighter at 5.45am. The rise of self-publishing makes me think of earlier times when – I imagine – communities would all gather to hear the local storyteller weave his magic.
Thank you for sharing your inner world with us. I look forward to Brasilia… Long may you write!
Thanks for your kind comments, Mark.
I’m just not a fan of past perfect in fiction, so I write without it.
So glad you enjoyed the books – Brasilia is on its way… slowly… meanderingly. 🙂
Matthew, I knew you when you were a little kid. I think I may have babysat you once or twice. I am so glad to see that you have won the fight and are doing well, and I look forward to reading your books.

Hello Mathew! I just kinda stumbled upon your recent Kickstarter and wanted to check out more of your stuff, so here I am and glad I did. I would like some advice in regards to continuing my writing and publishing, as I am also a fantasy writer and indie game dev. Please visit when you get a chance!
Sincerely,

Sorry for the double post! One of the login options froze for awhile and I selected an alternate and they both posted. : )

reason NOT to use this site. There are a
few sites that offer Dotclear themes, but one of the biggest sites is the Dotaddict.
