I’m not one to make New Year’s Resolutions, but way back in January 2000 I did make a resolution to myself. It was right after a year of uncertainty, hospitals, radiation and pain. I sat on the beaches of the southern outer banks (still one of my fav spots) and I swore to myself that I would become a writer.
Well, if you’ve read the “about” section on this blog, you know that I understand change is sometimes glacial in its pace. Though I made the resolution back in 2000, it wasn’t until 10 years later that I was finally able to begin working on that dream.
Now, as I enter 2011, I’m even more focused upon that resolution. Eden far exceeded my expectations and I just finished the 1st proof of Book 1 of The Antaran Legacy – it will be with my editor within a week or so.
Sure, there was plenty of sacrifice along the way, but I believe everything worth a damn comes at some cost. So, if you’ve made some resolutions in the past (or yesterday) that you stress over not completing/pursuing – know that change is slow. Change takes work. Change requires sacrifice. Once you are ready to change, you will find the strength within yourself to execute.
Here’s to a new year, may it be filled with opportunity and more change.
