We did NC in 2 tanks with the Insight, and I just powered to Rochester, NY in under 5 hours and 1 tank of gas! Championship!
The big loss for this trip is the hotel – I wasn’t able to book it myself and I’m staying at a dump… the plan was for the whole family to take the drive to Rochester for the end of this week, but my booking chick had other plans. I was greeted with every “bad hotel” cliche – rickety elevator, no housekeeping, toilet that can flush a litter of kittens, and a leaky faucet. I don’t dare open the fridge, there could be human remains in there. I’m real glad it’s only me – the 4 of us would have been all over each other.
So, after gorging on some quality Boston Market, I’m settled in my hole for the night… the front desk actually called and asked me if everything was okay in my room… that only made me more nervous. I’ve stayed at 4/5 star hotels in some nice downtown areas around the country, and this is the first time the front desk has called to ask me about my room. I looked out the window, expecting to see a dead body floating in the pool, but then I remembered there was no pool. ALL the locks on the door are securely in place for the night 🙂
The traffic here sucks, but I did find a Boston Market! Championship! (no, it never gets old)
Next week, I’m back in Des Moines and then off to Glenview, IL for a week… after that, who knows!
