I just stayed there this week and have that EXACT picture of the hallway and posted on facebook with the caption ‘redrum’. I too was expecting to see twins at the end of that hall. What’s worse, I did not see nor hear but one single other human being on the 9th floor during my stay. The elevator made me so anxious I could hardly calm my nerves.Could not wait to get out of there!

Matt, Great post. Good stuff no matter where you are on the writing spectrum. I’ll be forwarding it to other writers I’m working with and reminding myself about many of the points as I write my next book. Although I believe that sometimes you have no choice but to outline your plot or doom yourself to the unending hell of writer’s block.
